U.S. Space and Rocket Center

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is home to Space Camp, Aviation Challenge and NASA's Official Visitor Information Center for Marshall Space Flight Center. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is recognized as one of the most comprehensive U.S. manned space flight hardware museums in the world; including Spacedome Theater, Rocket Park, Shuttle Park and NASA's Educator Resource Center. Here visitors may trace the evolution of humankind's ventures into space and watch as tomorrow's potential engineers, scientists and astronauts train in one of the Space Camp or Aviation Challenge Programs.

Alabama Music Hall of Fame

The accomplishments of these Alabamiams are not limited to any single style of music, nor are they restricted to just the realm of performance.  Their achievements span the complete spectrum from sophisticated classical composition to humble gospel songs sun without accompaniment.  From performance to song writing, and from management to publishing, Alabamians have contributed in many ways to make the industry of music what it is today.

Burritt on the Mountain - A Living Museum

Burritt on the Mountain — A Living Museum has been referred to as a "Jewel on the Mountain." Start with Dr. William Henry Burritt's eclectic mansion, add a historic park with restored 19th century houses including barnyard and animals, and finally throw in the artistic side with concerts, plays and exhibits, and you have a delightful mixture of old and new for young and old! We also have camps, field trips, and festivals, focusing on the many natural wonders of our area. Children can immerse themselves in the world of bugs and their habitats, what it's like to be a 19th century boy or girl, or many other exciting areas of study designed to educate and entertain.

Alabama Constitution Village

Billed as "The Birthplace of Alabama," Constitution Village is the site of the 1819 state constitutional convention held when Alabama voted to join the union. Eight Federal-style buildings house displays that teach about life in the 19th century South. Historical interpreters, dressed in period costumes, demonstrate traditional skills such as quilting, basket weaving, and candle dipping.

Historic Huntsville Depot

This historic building is part of the complex composed of the EarlyWorks Children's Museum and Alabama Constitution Village – tickets may be purchased separately, but combination tickets are available as well. The depot-passenger station was build around 1860 as the local headquarters of the Memphis and Charleston Railroad; it is one of the nation's oldest remaining railroad buildings. Exhibits include a multi-media presentation about the history of railroads in the U. S., a model train display and some of the actual graffiti scratched into the building walls by the Confederate soldiers that were incarcerated here when it was used as a military prison after the Union troops captured the building in 1862.

Twickenham Historic District

Twickenham, Huntsville's original name, is the largest antebellum district in the state of Alabama. More than 65 buildings exhibit Federal, Italianate, and Victorian architecture. Of particular note are the Greek Revival home built by Alabama's second governor, John Bibb, and Weeden House, the birthplace of Maria Howard Weeden, a 19th century artist and poet.

Sci-Quest

Take a ride in a tornado, experience an earthquake, or travel through the human body – you can do all of this and more at this hands-on science museum. Other exhibits teach about electricity and magnets, world ecosystems and fluid dynamics. The museum's chief attraction is the immersive theater, where visitors watch giant 3-D images projected onto a 12x24 foot screen. Using touch screen monitors, individuals can ask questions, learn facts, and take quizzes, making the movie an experience customized to the viewer.

Marshall Space Flight Center

Formed in 1960 to build rockets for NASA, the Marshall Space Flight Center is one of Huntsville's most fascinating spots. This is home to one of NASA's largest installations, occupying some 1800 acres on Redstone Arsenal. Marshall has been involved in almost every important space project including the Hubble Telescope and the current International Space Station. Each year more than 300,000 visitors come to see where Von Braun's team launched the Redstone rocket, as well as where the Space Shuttle components are manufactured and monitored.
